As the Covid-19 continues to put the international community at risk, including Taiwan and Vietnam, Taiwan donated 300,000 surgical masks to Vietnam to fight the virus. The 300,000 masks provided by the Taiwanese government were handed over to Secretary-General Chen Weihai (陳維海)of the Taiwan Affairs Committee of Vietnam by Ambassador Richard R.C. Shih (石瑞琦) of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam, at the donation ceremony of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health.

The Vietnamese government expressed great gratitude for the materials that Taiwan provided and hoped the cooperation without borders will bring an end to this pandemic. 250,000 masks were given to the Central Lung Hospital in Hanoi, and 50,000 masks were sent to the Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Central Lung Hospital in Hanoi, established in 1957, is an important medical institution specializing in lung diseases, tuberculosis, and pneumonia. The Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, established in 1975, is one of the important hospitals in Southern Vietnam and responsible for providing medical treatment for senior political figures or international heavy hitters and professional medical guidance for hospitals at all levels.
