The "Vietnam Chiayi Cultural Home" (越在嘉文化棧) will hold a lecture, "We want labor, but people..." on September 18, 2021. The course will discuss the situation of migrant workers in Taiwan, how to assist migrant workers, and the common legal problems in marriages of new immigrants. Under the leadership of counseling psychologists, the fragility of people can be seen through the cultural conflicts and disadvantaged migrant workers’ groups, which is helpful in avoiding unnecessary misunderstandings.
"Vietnam Chiayi Cultural Home" was founded by Taiwan’s first female Vietnamese new immigrant director Ruan Chin-hung (阮金紅) and Taiwanese husband Tsai Chung-lung (蔡崇隆) in Min Hsiung Township, Chiayi County (嘉義縣民雄鄉). It has long focused on issues related to Taiwan’s new immigrants, migrant workers, and the new second generation. "Vietnam Chiayi Cultural Home" has become a warm home for new immigrants and migrant workers. It is also a place for Taiwanese people and students to conduct cultural exchanges and learn together. Not only lectures are held, but different cultural activities are often held to draw people's hearts and emotions from different countries.

"What we want is labor, but people come..." Through the sharing of real-life experiences, the lecture will help students understand the difficulties faced by foreign migrant caretakers in terms of labor and vacation rights. There will be discussions on migration policies, the mentality of Taiwanese employers and effective actions that can be taken in terms of laws and systems.
