The 2026 Pingtung Bluefin Tuna Cultural Festival officially began in May as Donggang entered the bluefin tuna season. Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) partnered with the Pingtung County Government to launch the “Ride THSR・Travel Pingtung・Taste Bluefin Tuna” project. Open for booking through June 30, the packages combine THSR tickets, guided tours, food vouchers, and accommodation options for travelers heading to southern Taiwan.

This year's THSR holiday program features six one- and two-day itineraries. One-day tours departing from Taipei start at NT$2,980 and include round-trip THSR tickets to Zuoying Station, shuttle transportation, guided tours, and a NT$400 food voucher for Donggang Huaqiao Market. Travelers can enjoy fresh bluefin tuna and local seafood specialties during the trip. Some itineraries also include visits to the Wangye Culture Museum and Chaozhou Railway Park for cultural and historical experiences.

Weekend tours also include visits to the aquarium exhibition center, art exhibitions, Victory Star Village, and Zhutian Station, offering cultural and artistic experiences. THSR is also promoting a two-day Dapeng Bay free travel package with accommodation included, with weekday departures from Taipei also starting at NT$2,980.

The Pingtung County Government said this year's festival also features concerts, markets, and local shopping promotions to attract visitors during the summer travel season.
