NCKU Serves as the Backstage Planner of New Southbound and Joins Vietnam Future Medical Innovation Workshops

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) actively deepens the relationship and the cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City Medicine and Pharmacy University and was invited to witness the opening ceremony of Grant & Innovation Center (GIC) of Ho Chi Minh City Medicine and Pharmacy University on December 23. Also, it works with the National Conference for Young Doctors to organize future medical innovation workshops to establish the foundation for Vietnamese interdisciplinary talent cultivation.

The director of the Medical Device Innovation Center of NCKU, Ye Minglong, states, "the Center and Ho Chi Minh City Medicine and Pharmacy University have always maintained a close cooperative relationship in terms of talent cultivation or the joint research. We are honored to be invited to participate in the opening ceremony of GIC. Ho Chi Minh City Medicine and Pharmacy University has its stand in the academic and education field of Vietnam. GIC, as the first and only unit of the school to promote scientific innovations, has a very important mission. We believe that Ho Chi Minh City Medicine and Pharmacy University will soon become a leader of medical innovation in Vietnam." 

In response to the New Southbound Policy, NCKU operates the Presidents' Forum of Southeast and South Asia and Taiwan Universities (SATU), and the Global Academia-Industry Alliance (GAIA) to link with the New Southbound national top universities and medical education institution of Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. Based on this, GIC will be devoted to promoting the school's innovation education courses and frugal innovation in the future to link the clinical needs of the medical system and the technology industry through talent cultivation. Also, it will continue promoting the research, innovation, and education of medical technology with NCKU. Pham Le An, Director of GIC, said, "the Medical Device Innovation Center combines engineering and clinical expertise to promote the innovation in Taiwan's medical device industry. GIC will make good use of this successful experience as a starting point to strive to become a leader of Vietnam medical technology innovation."
