To reduce cultural misunderstandings among different new immigrants in Taiwan, the Chiayi County Service Center for New Immigrant Families (嘉義縣新住民家庭服務中心) promotes the "Interpreter and Caregiver Training Program" (通譯人才暨關懷員培訓及運用方案) to train new immigrants in Chiayi, to become social workers and help new immigrants in need. In addition, when new immigrants encounter problems in Taiwan, and if they have sisters from the same hometown, they will at least have a certain degree of understanding of Taiwan’s culture and resources, to make it easier to open their hearts.

Chang Tsui-Yao (張翠瑤), acting director of the Social Affairs Bureau (社會局), said that to become a qualified interpreter and caregiver, the new immigrant sisters must include preliminary training, advanced training, and caregiver training classes and on-the-job training classes. Those who pass the exam will be given certificates and they can join the care services industry. One can even enter the Department of Social Work and do an internship at the New Immigrant Center and can become a social worker in the future and serve more sisters from the same country.

Chiayi County has two new immigrants’ family service centers and 7 community service locations to care for new immigrants who have just arrived in Taiwan and to provide various services according to the number of years they have been in Taiwan and to their degree of adaptation. There are various family-centered support services and programs for first time arrivals, to training new immigrants in public participation to have an impact in society. For Chiayi County new immigrant families that have need for these services, please contact the Chiayi County Service Center for New Immigrant Families.
