From June 1, 2023, Taoyuan City's social housing policy will be changed to better serve the families of the new immigrants. The social housing contract may be renewed by people who qualify under the policy, such as those with vulnerable status, the aged over 65, or new immigrants. One may also benefit from a longer lease term, which has been increased from the initial six years to 12 years. Additionally, second-generation immigrant family members with ROC nationality are eligible to apply for social housing policy and benefit from the policy.

The Taoyuan City Government's Office of Housing Development announced that it hoped to care for aged and vulnerable citizens through policy changes. For tenants of social housing who are renewing their leases, as long as they adhere to Article 4 of the Housing Act's criteria for those who are economically or socially disadvantaged, seniors over 65, and qualified new residents, and as long as there are no infractions or payment arrears throughout the term of the lease, The longest lease length overall is twelve years, and the rent record is renewable up to three times.

Foreigners who have earned the right of abode in Taiwan and have minor children of Taiwanese nationality are eligible to submit an application. They must also have a residence address in Taoyuan City or provide documentation of their education and job. Applicants must also be at least 18 years old. Citizens who have registered Taoyuan City as their primary residence, are enrolled there for school or employment, and do not own secondary homes in other counties or cities. The value of real estate of the applicants should be less than NT$5.8 million, and the average monthly family income per person should not be higher than NT$55,920.
