Many people participated in the competition. A mother and a daughter won second place in the competition.

Lin Xing Rong (Rong) is a ten years old little girl from Yilan. Her mother, Lin Zi Qing, is from Guangdong. Together, they sang a Taiwanese song called “Mother’s Hand”(阿母的手) and won second place in the competition.

Rong was diagnosed with both Autism and ADHD when she was two years old. The school was challenging for a child with Autism. Rong transferred five schools in total. Therefore, Lin Zi Qing decided to quit her job and take care of her daughter. Very morning, Lin Zi Qing would jog with Rong, to help Rong stable her emotion.

Lin Zi Qing tells the NIA Global News reporter that she has started learning Taiwanese when she was married in Taiwan in 2009.

Lin Zi Qing started learning Taiwanese in 2009 when she settled in Taiwan because of marriage. Then, she gave birth to Rong. In 2013, she participated a Taiwanese singing competition on TV. She got past nine challenges and became the first new immigrant participant.

Like her mother, Rong also has a nice voice. Rong is also good at singing Taiwanese songs. Lin Zi Qing and Rong often sang at charity concerts in Yilan. Rong also has a lot of fans. Rong and her mother have performed in over 100 events now.

Lin Zi Qing mentions, she found out that Rong was interested in music when they participated in a music course. Lin Zi Qing also started to teach the ukulele, and help other children who are like Rong. Rong even created her original song called “Two Cookies.”

On the day of the competition, Lin Zi Qing and Rong wore the same outfit. Lin Zi Qing shares that she chose to wear the same clothes to make Rong less lonely.

With love and care from her mother, Rong began to open herself to the public. And now sharing her voice on stage.
