Miaoli county is accepting applications for election staff training for new immigrants

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the Central Election Commission (中央選舉委員會) decided in July, to postpone the holding of the 17th to 20th national referendums that were originally scheduled to be held on August 28 and scheduled the referendum on December 18. The Miaoli County New Immigrants’ Family Service Center (苗栗縣新住民家庭服務中心) opened a new immigrants’ training class in mid-September to train new residents to become election staff.

The New Immigrants Family Service Center of Miaoli County is committed to serving new immigrants in Miaoli County and regularly cooperates with the Miaoli County Service Station of the National Immigration Agency (移民署苗栗縣服務站) to organize a variety of activities and courses and to provide relevant information to new immigrants. The “2021 New Immigrant Election Staff Training" is open for registration from now until August 30, and up to 60 new immigrants will be accepted.

In 2018 and 2019, there were training courses for election staff for new immigrants. This year, applicants for the training must be at least 20 years old, with household registration in Miaoli County, including Southeast Asian new immigrants who are fluent in speaking and reading Chinese. Foreigners or stateless people who acquired Taiwanese nationality through naturalization or Hong Kong and Macau people who were allowed to enter Taiwan, may also apply. In addition, people from China who were allowed to enter Taiwan and have had a household registration for at least 10 years and are at least 20 years old, may apply to join.
