CECC confirms 12 more COVID-19 cases, including 10 domestic cases and 2 imported cases

On August 7, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 12 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 12 new cases, 10 are domestic and the other two are imported. The CECC reported three deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 10 domestic cases (of whom, seven tested positive when they were in home isolation or completed their isolation period), five are men and the other five are women, aged between under 10 to 69 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between August 4 and August 5, 2021. Regarding those domestic cases, New Taipei City reported the most cases, at 4, and Taipei City had the second highest number, at 3. Chiayi County reported 2 cases, and Changhua County reported 1 case.

Regarding the three deaths announced today, they were two men and one woman in their 70s. Both were not vaccinated.

Regarding the two new imported cases, Case #15868 is an American man in his 20s. He traveled to Taiwan from the US for work on August 4. He was tested for COVID-19 at the airport, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on August 6.

Case #15873 is a British man in his 30s. He traveled to Taiwan from the UK for work on August 4. After arrival, he was quarantined in a group quarantine facility, and was tested for COVID-19. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on August 6.

The CECC reported that a total of 2,170,926 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,153,856. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 15,765 cases. Of the 15,765 confirmed cases, 1,282 are imported; 14,430 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 108 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 794 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 794 deaths, 786 are from domestic cases and the other 8 are from imported cases.
