The 2021 Christmas marks one of the coldest days with the arrival of the cold front since winter begins. However, the “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” still attracts many foreign nationals, including undocumented migrant workers and overstayers to receive free vaccination. At present, the number of foreigners who have gotten vaccinated via the program has exceeded 30,000 foreigners and is still increasing.

Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) collaborates with The Ministry of Labor (MOL), Ministry of Health and Welfare, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to promote the “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” since December 3. The program adopts four principles, “won’t be reported”, “won’t be seized”, “won’t be charged for any fee”, “won’t be banned” and it will last until January 31, 2022.

The Ministry of the Interior National Immigration Agency (NIA) also cooperates with CECC and county & city governments to assist overstayers in confirming their identities and providing vaccination information at designated vaccinations.

Currently, a vaccination station is opened at Taipei Main Station, which will provide Moderna vaccination services from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily from now until December 29. Besides, there are also vaccination sites at Mega City Banqiao Store, and Taichung ASEAN Square to enable foreign nationals to get vaccinated with peace of mind.
