NTD10,000 epidemic subsidies for families: Apply at post offices starting July 15th

From July 15th, the Executive Yuan (行政院) will provide children and family epidemic prevention subsidies of NT$10,000 per person for children in elementary school, middle school, high school and physically and mentally disabled students. However, some people do not have ATM bank cards, health insurance cards, or their caregivers are not allowed to claim the subsidy. The Ministry of Education (MOE, 教育部) reminded the public that from July 15th, people can bring the required certification documents to any post office in Taiwan to apply. Applications will be accepted until September 30th.

The details of the post office application for family anti-epidemic subsidies, are as follows:

1. For children with a "health insurance card" before July 9th: Bring the original child’s health insurance card and the original identity card or residence certificate of the applicant to the post office for processing. If the child’s health insurance card is lost, please contact the health insurance unit for a reissuance of the card before applying.
2. For children who have no health insurance card before July 9th: Please bring the original household registration certificate of the child or the original ID card of the child, and the original ID card or residence certificate of the applicant to the post office for processing.

The MOE reminds that some people do not have health insurance cards of children under their care, nor do they have the original household registration. They can send relevant certification documents to the National Education Department of the Ministry of Education (教育部國教署), and to have their documents checked by the MOE and the Social and Family Affairs Administration of the Department of the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW, 衛福部社家署). After the information is checked and approved, they may go to the post office to apply:

1. Verification of Information: one of the child’s parents, guardian or actual caregiver will send the documents as proof to the National Education Department of the Ministry of Education: 1. The child’s household registration transcript copy or household name certificate copy; 2. The applicant’s identity card copy or residence certificate; 3. If the applicant is not the parent or guardian of the child, he or she should submit a document to prove that he is the child’s actual caregiver.

2. Verification Approved: Bring the official notice of the National Education Administration of the MOE, or of the MOHW’s Social and Family Affairs Administration, the applicant’s original identity card or residence permit, and the copy of the child’s household registration transcript or household registration and proceed to the post office to apply.
