(Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network) The Chiayi City Service Station Special Task Force of the Southern District Affairs Brigade of the National Immigration Agency (NIA, 移民署南區事務大隊嘉義市服務站) held the "2021 New Residents Care Network Conference" (110年度新住民關懷網絡會議), inviting around 24 public and private departments, immigration organizations, and network partners in Chiayi City to participate together with the central and local units for policy exchanges and case sharing, including promotion for African swine fever prevention, new-format of Unified ID Certificate numbers for foreigners, COVID-19 and the new immigrants’ global news network website. Promotion is made through public and private collaboration to enhance service quality and create a friendly environment to expand care and services for new immigrants.

At the meeting, the NIA first announced the importance of "African Swine Fever Prevention", as well as the "New-Format Unified Certificate Number for foreigners" and other personal information related to foreigners. Then the Department of Health, Chiayi City Government (嘉義市政府衛生局) shared how to prevent "New Corona Virus (COVID -19) and other infectious diseases". Then they introduced the "New Immigrants Global News Network" (新住民全球新聞網站) for information related to new immigrants. The website uploads many important domestic and foreign news items every day which are available to new immigrants to read in their own languages. There are also weekly video news reports that are available in different languages, to enhance the right of new immigrants to be informed. During the conference, the participants also shared their experiences and problems. It is hoped that through the discussions, the connection between the public sector and the NGO groups in the jurisdiction will be strengthened, to fully understand the problems and the needs of the new immigrants and provide them prompt assistance.

Huang Yen-Hsun (黃艷薰), director of the Chiayi City Service Station (嘉義市服務站), said that to protect Taiwanese pigs, the NIA has specially produced Chinese, English, Vietnamese, Indian, Thai, Burmese, and Cambodian language versions of propaganda and videos. There are also interpreters at the service station promoting African swine fever prevention in different languages. New immigrants and migrant workers should never buy meat products online or ask relatives and friends to send meat products from their home country to Taiwan. Importing meat in violation of the regulations can be punished with up to seven years in prison and a fine of NT$3 million.
