Yang Yung-Wei (楊勇緯), a judoka from Taiwan, just earned another gold medal in the Hangzhou Asian Games. He had previously won the men's 60 kg judo silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In addition to being Taiwan's 100th gold medal in Asian Games history, this is also his first gold medal ever. Yang ran to embrace his coach after ascertaining that he had won the game and wept with joy, "I finally did it!"

Yang Yung-Wei first defeated Kazakh player Khanbolot Yrysbekov in the top 16 of the Asian Games, then Japanese player Hayato Kondo in the top 8, and finally Mongolian player Enkhtaivan Ariunbold in the top 4. He ultimately used his wrestling abilities to win half the match against South Korea's Harim Lee in the final and went on to win the gold medal.

Yang Yung-Wei stated in an interview following the game that he was really happy with himself after seeing the outcomes today after going through so many hardships and failures. At the same time, he also thanked the Taiwanese supporters for their encouragement.
