‘East Coast Soccer Stars - Lighting Up the Hearts of Rural Children’ - Yu Heli and Yukiko Igashira
Yukiko Igashira and her husband, Shangru, have always supported Yu Heli’s passion for soccer. While soccer is popular in Japan, it remains relatively unknown in Taiwan. Yukiko decided to accompany Heli in promoting soccer, hoping to introduce the sport to more Taiwanese children.
Through the Dream Building Program, they organized the "East Coast Soccer Stars," a friendly match beyond just winning, providing rural children with a gateway to the world of soccer. Yukiko was deeply involved in planning, from reading relevant books, and designing materials, to coordinating with school teams. The friendly match was a great success, creating unforgettable moments for the children as they enjoyed the joy of soccer.Wu Pei-ling (back right 1) and Wu Bo-yan (back right 2) participated in the Keelung Zhongyuan Festival parade (photo / courtesy of NIA Facebook)
