What is the Taiwan Employment Gold Card?

A single card that combines four types of permits, allowing qualified foreigners to work, switch jobs, and reside freely in Taiwan during its valid period.

What are the four permits on the card?

Work Permit:
Allows the cardholder to freely seek employment, switch jobs, or work part-time.
Residence Visa:
A long-term visa enables one to stay over 180 days in Taiwan.
Alien Resident Certificate (ARC):
An ID card for foreigners without household registration to legally reside in Taiwan long-term.
Re-entry Permit:
Allows unlimited entries and exits from Taiwan.

The Employment Gold Card is valid for 1 to 3 years and can be renewed upon expiration.

No need for company assistance with the application

Five Major Benefits for Employment Gold Card Holders

Even if you haven't found a job yet, you can stay in Taiwan to look for one!

An open individual work permit is provided for foreign professionals for a specific period
Income exceeding NT$3 million will enjoy half-rate taxation within 5 years..
Spouses and children can apply for dependent residency. The duration of visit visas for direct relatives has been extended to a maximum of 1 year
Continuous residence for 3 years with an average stay of more than 183 days per year is eligible for permanent residency application. Obtaining a doctoral degree in Taiwan can offset one year of the residency period.
(Excluding individuals from Hong Kong and Macau!)
Gold Card holders employed in Taiwan or holding the status of employer or self-employed in Taiwan, along with their dependent relatives, can directly join the National Health Insurance.
