Between 2023 and 2025, Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency has progressively completed the replacement of e-Gate systems at major airports and ports nationwide, fully deploying the new-generation e-Gate system.
• Service locations:
Taoyuan, Songshan, Taichung, and Kaohsiung airports, as well as Kinmen Shuitou Port
(Construction at Shuitou Port is scheduled for completion in late January 2026)
• Four key features:
o More convenient: Registration and immigration clearance combined into one step, completed directly inside the e-Gate
o More inclusive: Foreign nationals aged 14 and above may use e-Gate for departure
o More diverse: Supports guidance in 40 languages, automatically switching based on nationality
o Faster: Equipped with walk-through facial recognition technology, enabling clearance in as little as 10 seconds

Both Taiwanese nationals and foreign residents in Taiwan may use e-Gate if they meet the following conditions:
• Taiwanese nationals: Aged 10 or above, at least 120 cm tall, and holding an electronic (chip-enabled) passport
• Foreign residents: Holders of a valid resident certificate, aged 10 or above and at least 120 cm tall
• Foreign visitors: Foreign nationals aged 14 or above may use e-Gate when departing Taiwan
• Helpful reminder: Taiwanese nationals who have registered do not need to re-register even after renewing their passport

The 2026 Lunar New Year holiday will last up to nine days.
Travelers are encouraged to use e-Gate to help ease congestion.
•Prepare in advance: Please remove glasses, hats, or masks before entering the gate to allow walk-through recognition to function smoothly
•Flexible registration: Travelers who have not registered may choose to store facial images only, or add fingerprints
•Smart experience: Whether entering or exiting through airports or seaports, enjoy a smart, efficient, and user-friendly automated clearance experience
