July 23: CECC confirms 24 more COVID-19 cases, including 23 domestic cases and 1 imported case

On July 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 24 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 24 new cases, 23 are domestic and the other one is imported. The CECC also announced 2 deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 23 domestic cases, 19 are men and the other 4 are women, aged between 20 to 59 years old.

Regarding those domestic cases, New Taipei City reported the most cases, at 13, followed by Taipei City and Taoyuan City with four cases each. Yilan County and Kaohsiung City reported 1 case each.

Regarding the 2 deaths announced today, they were an over 80-year old female and an over 60-year old male. Both had chronic diseases and a history of contact with other confirmed cases.

Regarding the 1 new imported case, Case #15641 is a Croatian boy under the age of 10. His family member (Case #15370) was later confirmed to have COVID-19.

The CECC reported a total of 15,535 confirmed cases, 1,254 are imported; 14,228 are domestic. There have been a cumulative total of 784 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 784 deaths, 776 are from domestic cases and the other 8 are from imported cases.

The CECC reminds the public to pay attention to personal hygiene, to reducing unnecessary outings, and to avoid crowded areas especially high-risk areas. Cooperating and following these epidemic prevention guidelines will keep everyone safe.
