According to the Taipei City Government, at the Four Four South Village, Good Cho's Cultural Creativity Studio launched Taiwan's first 3-year-long outdoor artistic illumination show. On February 10, Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) attended a press conference unveiling the inaugural season of artist Ray's illumination show "LIGHT UP: Light at South Village."

The mayor mentioned that Four Four South Town is Taipei's first military dependents' village in Taipei City during his speech. The village has become a key attraction in Xinyi District following the renovation of the settlement. The Xinyi Parent-Child Play Center, a cultural artifact display hall, Good Cho's store, and PLAYground Theater, as well as a variety of trendy crafts shops and eateries, are all located within the complex.
Good Cho submitted plans for a long-term outdoor illumination project to give the town a brighter feel after dark. The design aims to combine art and history by creating a distinctive and modern art showcase on the surface of these old buildings.

Ko pointed out that, unlike other cities where lantern festivals are hosted in huge outdoor venues, Taipei City is densely packed with buildings and skyscrapers, making finding a site large enough to hold such activities nearly impossible.
That is why the city government is continually exploring ways to make the most of limited-space venues to provide visitors with a distinctive urban experience, one of which is events utilizing illumination technology.
