Say No to Bribery, Yunlin County Hosted New Resident Caring Meeting

Yunlin County Service Station held 2019 Yunlin County New Resident caring meeting on 30th which invited the relevant governmental units and NGO to discuss about the issues and policy of new residents. The service station specifically explained the main points of the draft amendment to Article 31 of the Immigration Act, which aims to guarantee the right of family reunion of foreign spouses and children. Before the amendment of the law, the spouse in need can still seek assistance from National Immigration Agency and service stations for staying in Taiwan.

In respond to the election of president and legislator on January in 2020, the meeting specially invited Director of the Political Office of Yunlin Inspection Office Liu Meng-cheng (劉孟政) to promote the details of anti-bribery in election. Liu introduced the types of bribery and reiterated that the prosecution of bribery for the presidential elections can receive a maximum of NT 15 million, and provides NT 10 million as award to report for the bribery in election of legislator. Hoping people can realized the importance of fair election and say no to bribery.

Chief of Yunlin County Service Station Huang Mei-cheng(黃玟晸) stated that the difficulties of new residents encountered in Taiwan is diverse. In order to assist the new residents, service station holds the caring meeting every year and invites 20 units or groups relevant with new residents to discuss in the aspects of the regulation, policy and benefits of new residents. As times goes, there are more new residents received the identity certificate and the second generation of new resident obtain the right to vote. So as to prevent the new residents from misunderstanding or breaking the electoral law by the differences of languages and culture. The service station emphasized on the importance of not buying or selling votes.
