Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (駐菲律賓台北經濟文化辦處) and the Taiwanese Compatriot Association in the Philippines (TCAP, 菲律賓台灣同鄉) recently donated 100,000 surgical masks to the Philippine National Police, hoping to help police in the Philippines fight against the pandemic and also to indirectly provide better services for Taiwanese in the Philippines.

Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines said that the Chief of the Philippine National Police - Dionardo Carlos led the police officers with ranks higher than chief secretary & first-level unit supervisors to receive the donation. In addition, a certificate of appreciation is presented to the representative office and the Taiwanese Compatriot Association in the Philippines.

Xie Jia Qing (謝嘉卿), the vice-chairman of the Taiwanese Compatriot Association in the Philippines, addressed remarks to the audience. He mentioned that during the COVID-19 outbreak, more than 42,000 Philippine police officers have been infected and 125 police officers have passed away.
Therefore, the Philippine police need to strengthen domestic measures to improve the situation and maintain public order. The masks donated by Taiwan will definitely help the Philippine National Police fight against the virus and provide better police services to the Filipinos and Taiwanese living in the Philippines.
