The President of the Executive Yuan (行政院院長) Su Chen-Chang (蘇 貞昌) has decided at the Executive Yuan (EY, 行政院) that residential users, social welfare institutions and nursing homes with electrical consumption of less than 1,000 kWh will be exempt from the July summer electricity rate, and an estimated 10 million users will benefit from this. As for some people who have received electricity bills for July, Taipower (台灣電力公司) stated that it will recalculate their electricity bills and refund them in the next month’s bill.

In addition, based on the spirit of caring for the disadvantaged, for the 13,000 homes for the disabled, social welfare institutions, nursing homes, and families with disabled members using life support equipment, all electrical consumption in July will be changed to non-summer electricity rates.

President of the Executive Yuan Su Chen-Chang said that with the Covid-19 nationwide level 3 alert, people have stayed and worked at home, or cared for their children at home, and this has led to a significant increase in electrical consumption. The government has recently decided not to implement summer-month electricity rates in June; and with the extension of the level three alert to July 26, it was decided to continue to suspend the implementation of summer-month electricity rates in July.
Considering that there is no increase in the electricity use and with the principle of reasonably reducing the burden of the people, following the same mechanism, the EY will continue to suspend the implementation of summer electricity rates in July.
