Q: What are the regulations for adult children of foreign special professionals with permanent residency to work in Taiwan?
A: Adult children of foreign special professionals who are currently or were previously employed in professional positions and have been granted permanent residency by the National Immigration Agency (NIA) may apply directly to the Ministry of Labor (MOL) for a work permit-without employer sponsorship-if they meet the required residency duration and eligibility criteria recognized by the NIA.

Q: What are the residency qualifications required for the adult children of foreign special professionals with permanent residency to apply for a work permit?
A: Adult children of foreign special professionals with permanent residency may apply for a work permit if they meet one of the following criteria as determined by the NIA:

  • Have legally resided in Taiwan for a total of 10 years, staying over 270 days each year.
  • Entered Taiwan before the age of 16 and stayed over 270 days each year.
  • Were born in Taiwan and have legally resided for a total of 10 years, staying over 183 days each year.
     

Q: What is the validity period of the work permit for the adult children of foreign special professionals?
A: There is no specified validity period. Q: Are employers required to arrange regular health checkups for adult children of foreign special professionals who have obtained a work permit?
A: No. Once adult children of foreign special professionals obtain a work permit, they are exempt from the health checkup requirement under Article 57, Paragraph 5 of the Employment Service Act. 

Q: Do adult children of foreign special professionals with permanent residency need their employer to apply for a work permit to work in Taiwan?
A: No. If they meet the required residency duration and eligibility criteria recognized by the NIA, they may apply for a work permit directly with the Ministry of Labor without employer sponsorship. 

Q: What types of jobs can adult children of foreign special professionals with permanent residency engage in after obtaining a work permit?
A: There are no restrictions on job categories or industries.
