Taoyuan and Hsinchu announce the "Strengthening of Level 2 Alert" vigilance measures, Mid-Autumn Festival activities in Taoyuan City will be suspended

With the recent issue of the gathering of aviation pilots and family members, the three confirmed cases were traced and were concentrated in Taoyuan City. Chen Shi-Chung (陳時中), the commander of the Central Epidemic Command Center (中央流行疫情指揮中心), stated that in response to the imported Delta variant, two national aviation pilots had a breakthrough infection and are highly suspected of being infected with the Delta variant, announced that from now until September 9th, Taoyuan City will "strengthen Level 2 Alert" vigilance related measures.

The Hsinchu County Government also announced that it will follow up and strengthen the second-level alert and epidemic prevention measures, but for the time being, it will not force the cancellation of activities and the reduction of the number of people in the activities. People are requested to follow and implement the guidelines.

Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-Tsan (桃園市長鄭文燦) said that the family of the pilot was infected and the son who is studying at the Affiliated Taoyuan Agricultural & Industrial Senior High School of National Taipei University of Technology (桃園北科附工) was diagnosed as a confirmed case. The school urgently announced that it will be closed for 14 days. At the same time, to avoid the risk of spreading the epidemic, Mid-Autumn Festival activities, including barbecue gatherings, singing, and club activities must be completely cancelled. If the epidemic situation changes, the city government will adjust the regulations at any time.

• Taoyuan City’s "Strengthening of Level 2 Alert" vigilance measures are as follows:

1. The maximum number of people for gathering activities is reduced to 50 indoors and 100 outdoors. If the number exceeds the limit, an epidemic prevention plan should be reported to the Taoyuan City Government for approval and implementation.
2. Strengthen crowd control in stores and supermarkets.
3. Unless with exceptions, hospitals and long-term care institutions will not allow visits, and only one person is allowed to accompany the patient.

In addition, considering that the confirmed pilots and the student are most likely infected with the Delta variant, and to avoid the spread of the risk of infection, Taoyuan City’s Mid-Autumn Festival activities are "completely suspended". As of now, although there are enhanced second level alert vigilance measures, the city government will monitor the epidemic situation and may adjust the regulations at any time.
