CECC confirms 48 more COVID-19 cases, including 26 domestic cases and 22 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 48 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 48 cases, 26 are domestic and 22 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 7 men and 19 women, aged between below 10 years old and around 20 years old.

Regarding the 48 new imported cases, they are 12 men and 9 women, aged between under 5 and above 50 years old. 5 of them are from India, 3 from Canada, 2 from the Philippines and the Netherlands each, and 1 from United Arab Emirates, United States and Ukraine each. The remaining 7 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 24, 2022, to February 7, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,816,835 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,797,056. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 19,239 cases. Of the 19,239 confirmed cases, 3,957 are imported; 15,228 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
