New year, new perks! Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System announced good news for foreigners in Taiwan. From now on, senior foreigners who are 65 years old or above, and hold ROC (Taiwan) Resident Certificates in various counties and cities will enjoy the discount of purchasing the one-way ticket at half price.
Chairman Liu Kun Yi (劉坤億) said that the new discounts offered to foreign nationals show that Taoyuan is a friendly city, Taiwan is a friendly country, and we embrace foreigners in Taiwan. Besides, it is hoped that the traffic flow of Taoyuan MRT trains will increase.

Liu Kun Yi stated that many foreigners chose to settle in Taiwan because of work, marriage, or other relationships. However, some of them are unable to apply for naturalization to acquire R.O.C. nationality and thus they cannot enjoy certain social welfare benefits even though they have been residing in Taiwan for a long while.
To embody the spirit of "respecting the elders", Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System decided to expand the "ticket for senior" discount to the foreign seniors living in Taiwan.

In addition, Liu pointed out that the frequency of going through immigration for foreigners is about twice a year. Foreign nationals will thus be able to enjoy the benefits provided by the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System.
