As the epidemic situation in Taiwan slows down, many arts and cultural activities have resumed. The Wei Wu-ying National Arts and Cultural Center (衛武營國家藝術文化中心) and the Hong Kong City Contemporary Dance Company (香港城市當代舞蹈團) co-produced the "Piazzolla Operetta, The Forgotten Maria" (皮亞佐拉輕歌劇《被遺忘的瑪麗亞》), directed and choreographed by Hong Kong’s senior choreographer Li Hai-ning (黎海寧), with Taiwan’s top conductor Jian Wen-pin (簡文彬) as the conductor. It is scheduled to be shown from September 17 to 19 at the Wei Wu-ying National Arts and Cultural Center in Kaohsiung.

Ástor Pantaleón Piazzolla (阿斯托爾·皮亞佐拉) is an Argentine artist who influenced the history of music in South America. He combined classical and jazz music in traditional styles and created the "New Tango Music" (新探戈音樂). 2021 coincides with Piazzolla's centennial birthday. "The Forgotten Maria" is his famous masterpiece, which tells the life and love of the heroine Maria in the Argentine capital through dance and music.

Hong Kong choreographer Li Hai-ning is known as "the best female choreographer in the Chinese world" (華人世界最厲害的女編舞家) and has won numerous awards. She was awarded the "Medal of Honor" (榮譽獎章) by the Queen of England in 1995 and was awarded the Hong Kong Arts Development Award for Outstanding Artistic Contribution (香港藝術發展獎傑出藝術貢獻獎) in 2015. Li Hai-ning’s choreography focuses on the overall performance of the dancer’s body. Although Li Hai-ning can only conduct rehearsals through video because of the epidemic, she still does not miss any details and seriously assists the dancers to present a perfect performance.
