Since 111 school year, Ministry of Education of Taiwan has increased the hiring of international English teaching personnel. From school year 112, a total of 822 teaching professionals have been hired, including 411 foreign English teachers and 411 foreign English teaching assistants, to support neighborhood elementary and middle schools and build up bilingual education environment in Taiwan.

The Ministry of Education hires 81 foreign English teachers each year to work in public elementary schools in an effort to support the bilingual policy, and the number of hires rises each year. A total of 501 individuals have been hired as of January 2023. The school will support the admitted international English teachers in their job applications. The Ministry of Education will also pay for annual air tickets for foreign English teachers, their spouses, and members of their families in addition to paying for foreign English teaching assistants, study English teaching certificates, and travel allowances.

The Ministry of Education encourages excellent foreign English teachers to stay or transfer to English teaching consultants, foreign teacher counselors, to assist Taiwanese teachers in professional development, or to guide new foreign English teaching staff.
In the recruitment, the applicants are evaluated on the ongoing basis, the recruitment will be close once all the available jobs vacancies are full. Foreigners who are interested in teaching English in elementary and middle schools and who meet the eligibility standards are welcome to apply on the Ministry of Education's recruiting website and work with the ministry to improve the English-teaching environment.
