Ba Jia Jiang, also known as the Eight Generals, is a type of traditional Taiwanese temple performer. A Taiwanese Ba Jia Jiang group, Diyudian Ji-sheng-tang, performed at the Nice Carnival in France this February after overcoming various difficulties.

Diyudian Ji-sheng-tang was invited by the Nice Carnival last year, but they considered rejecting the invitation at the beginning. The Ba Jia Jiang performers must obey many taboos, which are hard to obey overseas. In addition to this reason, Diyudian Ji-sheng-tang couldn’t afford the cost of this trip.

However, they didn’t want to give up. After seeking permission from their deity, Diyudian Ji-sheng-tang received approval to perform abroad, and some of the taboos that they didn't have to obey. They also solved the problem of insufficient funds so that performed in France successfully. The French audience also has an opportunity to experience Taiwanese traditional culture through the performances.
