According to statistics, approximately 3.6 million people in Taiwan aged 25 to 65 are affected by hair loss, and the issue is becoming increasingly prevalent among younger individuals. Hair loss impacts not only physical appearance and self-confidence but may also affect mental health and quality of life. Dermatologist Dr. Huang Yongxue stated that if a person experiences more than 50 to 100 hairs falling out per day, they should take the issue seriously and seek professional help. Causes of hair loss include genetics, stress, thyroid disorders, among others, with androgenetic alopecia being the most common, affecting both men and women.

Hair loss treatments are categorized into &ldquosymptom management&rdquo and &ldquoroot cause resolution.&rdquo In the early stages, oral medications and topical hair growth solutions can be used to control hair shedding. For more severe cases, hair transplantation may be necessary. In recent years, a new autologous micrografting technique has become a promising treatment option. This procedure involves injecting a suspension of healthy hair follicle cells into the area of hair loss to stimulate scalp regeneration, with visible results typically seen in 3 to 6 months. Compared to traditional hair transplants, this technique results in smaller wounds and shorter recovery times, making it suitable for busy modern lifestyles.Hair loss affects appearance and self-confidence, and may even impact mental health and quality of life. Doctors recommend that early-stage patients combine medication with autologous micrografting to improve treatment outcomes, while late-stage patients may consider integrating hair transplantation to increase graft survival rates and hair health. However, this procedure is not suitable for those experiencing postpartum hair loss, chemotherapy-induced hair loss, or scalp disorders. Physicians emphasize the importance of early intervention, proper scalp hygiene, and maintaining good lifestyle habits to protect scalp health and prevent further hair loss.Dr. Huang Yongxue, Director of Erlin Four Seasons Dermatology Clinic (Image provided by Heho Health)Dr. Huang Yongxue, Director of Erlin Four Seasons Dermatology Clinic (Image provided by Heho Health)
