National Immigration Agency (Chiayi City Service Center) received a referral from an NGO group. Jin Lan(金蘭), a new immigrant who was seriously ill. Because she could not afford the medical expenses and her life was in trouble, NIA (Chiayi City Service Center) then went to visit her. After learning about the actual situation, the service center contact Chiayi Charitable Organization to send warmth, provide assistance and relief funds, and temporarily relieve the urgent need.
Jin Lan(金蘭), who has been in Taiwan for more than 20 years from the mainland China, she has no children with her husband. Before she fell ill, Jin worked as a nurse. She lived a smooth life and had no financial worries. But for some unknown reason, her physical condition got worse 3 years ago, and she even underwent multiple surgeries, and she still needs continuous treatment until now.
Due to Jin’s illness, she needed to pay huge medical expenses, so her husband had to borrow money from relatives and friends. In addition, she needed someone to take care of her illness, so her husband was unable to work.
After the Chiayi City Service Center learned of Jin’s family situation, social workers went to visit her family, and contacted Chiayi Charitable Organization to send warmth. Fortunately, Jin received subsidies from the charity group in time, and the predicament was temporarily relieved.
The director of the Chiayi City Service Center (黃艷薰), stated that National Immigration Agency continues to promote the care, counseling and empowerment of new immigrant, and through public-private cooperation, it will accompany new immigrants in special situations to solve difficulties.
