Funded under the scheme of “New Immigrants Development”, the “New immigrants’ culture & light zone” was established in the 2021 Hsinchu Art Festival. The concept of development derives from blessings of the stars, creating a large-scale & ring-shaped installation of the “Island Star Map”.

There is a live broadcast in Indonesian, Vietnamese, Filipino, Thai, Malaysian, Japanese, and Korean. The hometown stories are broadcasted with digital technology such as lighting and music, providing an immersive experience in the “sound” to the participants.

The stories narrated about new immigrants’ hometowns, and the event was jointly created by the new immigrant families, local illustrators, artists and other art teams. For example, Ms. Park Eun-jin (朴銀金) and Ms. Ko Ha-young (高賀榮), the representatives of the new immigrants from South Korea, used their hometown fairy tale "Moon and Sun" to create stories.

The story is about a mom who was eaten by a tiger when she was out looking for food. The tiger dons the mother’s clothes and tries to deceive two of the woman’s children into opening the door. After the door is opened, the tiger revealed its true colors and wanted to eat the brother and sister. At this point in time, the children prayed to the god and were rescued by the rope dropped from the sky.

This story is like a fairy tale about the Seven Little Lambs and the Big Bad Wolf. The performance will last until November 27. People who want to learn about rich and brilliant stories are welcome to visit the Dongda Fei Xing Park in Hsinchu City.
