July 9: CECC confirms 36 more COVID-19 cases, including 32 domestic cases and 4 imported cases

On July 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 36 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 36 new cases, 32 are domestic and the other 4 are imported.

The CECC pointed out that of the 32 domestic cases (of whom, 13 tested positive while they were in home isolation or completed their isolation period), 17 are men and the other 15 are women, aged between under 5 to 79 years old. The CECC also announced 12 deaths today.

Regarding those domestic cases, Taipei City reported the most cases, at 19, and New Taipei City had the second-highest number, at 11. Taoyuan City reported 2 cases.

Regarding the 12 deaths announced today, they were eight men and 4 women between 40 and 89 years old.

Regarding the four new imported cases, Case #15270 is a Taiwanese female in her 60s. She returned to Taiwan from Turkey on June 25.

Case #15283 is a Taiwanese female in her 30s. She returned to Taiwan from the US on July 7.

Case #15289 and Case #15290 are two Taiwanese women in their 20s. They took the same flight to Taiwan from the Czech Republic on July 7.

The CECC reported that a total of 1,582,844 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 1,566,436. Of the 15,185 confirmed cases, 1,197 are imported; 13,935 are domestic. There have been a cumulative total of 730 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 730 deaths, 722 are domestic cases and the other 8 are imported.

The CECC reminds the public to pay attention to personal hygiene, to reducing unnecessary outings, and to avoid crowded areas especially high-risk areas. Cooperating and following these epidemic prevention guidelines will keep everyone safe.
