Hurricanes and torrential rains struck East Libya in Africa, resulting in flash floods and the breaching of dams. As a result, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Republic of China (Taiwan) will provide $1 million USD to aid in disaster relief, including helping to relocate victims and supporting other recovery and reconstruction initiatives.

According to the Libyan government, storms struck eastern Libya, bringing in record-breaking rainfall in hilly regions, which led to floods and seriously damaged cities like Derna and Bengazi. More than 10,000 individuals are still missing, and the dead toll has surpassed 5,300.

The MOFA said that following the floods in Libya, it quickly designated the Libyan representative office in Jordan to convey to the nation's embassy in Jordan the condolences and sympathies of the Taiwanese government and people, as well as its desire to offer help.

Despite the fact that there are no diplomatic links or a representative office between Taiwan and Libya, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will donate $1 million USD in the right ways when the crisis worsens, and more people lose their lives.
