The Shilin District in Taipei City will play host to the 2023 Shilin International Cultural Festival series of events. One of the lectures (義大利不思議—我眼中的故鄉與台灣) will not only take place at the former residence of Guo Xiu-cong (郭琇琮故居), but it will also discuss diverse life experiences and engage in cultural exchanges from the viewpoint of new immigrants.

The former residence of Guo Xiu-cong is a municipal historic landmark and features Taiwanese, Japanese, and European architectural elements. It has been converted into a foreign cuisine restaurant and is tucked away in an alley near to the Shilin Night Market. Visitors learnt about the history of the previous residence's revival from the present manager while also seeing many historical remnants.

Tommy (黃明森) and his wife (黃怡晴) a new immigrant couple from Italy, were invited to share Italian culture as well as distinctions in cultural background and thought during the lecture. During the event, the attendees learnt about Italian gestures. People may communicate and advance their ability to communicate with other cultures even though the language and culture are different if they employ similar gestures.
