According to the "global economic freedom index" released by the American think tank Heritage Foundation on the February 14, Taiwan ranks 6th among 184 economies in the world and 3rd in the Asia-Pacific region, with scores 20 points higher than the global and regional averages.

According to the report, the top 10 were Singapore, Switzerland, Ireland, New Zealand, Luxembourg, Taiwan, Estonia, the Netherlands, Finland, and Denmark.

In the Asia-Pacific region, Taiwan ranks third, and many of the region's robust economies, including South Korea, Japan, and China, are not as well-ranked as Taiwan. Among them, South Korea, ranked 19th in the world, belongs to the "Mostly free" rating, and Japan, ranked 35th, is classified as "Moderately free" (Moderately free).
