Immigration Agency's Second-Generation Ambassadors Experience Being a Singer for a Day

The Taipei City Service Station of the Northern Region Affairs Brigade of the National Immigration Agency recently held a "Second-Generation Friendly Ambassadors" empowerment program. Hualien Amis band lead singer Wu Cheng-Yen was invited to be the instructor. During the course, Wu guided the second-generation participants through basic rhythm games and vocal training, focusing on breathing techniques, vocal muscle control, and proper pronunciation. Through singing practice, participants gained hands-on experience applying these skills. Wu coached the students on two ballads, addressing issues such as pitch, articulation, and off-key singing. The interactive and dynamic class allowed the participants to improve their vocal abilities effectively.

Can Dried Fruits Replace Fresh Fruits?

In recent years, dried fruits have become a popular choice as a "healthy snack" for many people. Whether added to breakfast yogurt or enjoyed as an afternoon treat, they seem both convenient and nutritious. However, can dried fruits truly replace fresh fruits? The National Health Promotion Administration recently posted on their Facebook page, "Healthy Eating," pointing out that to enhance flavor, commercially available dried fruits often contain added refined sugar or seasonings, especially for sour fruit types like dried mangoes and dried pineapples. These may hide high sugar content and additional calories, which can be harmful to health if consumed over time. Furthermore, the drying process significantly reduces the volume of dried fruits compared to their fresh counterparts. This makes it easy to overconsume, as one bite leads to another. While having dried fruits as an occasional snack is acceptable, fresh fruits should remain the primary choice. Avoid falling into the trap of excess calories and additives in dried fruits. Maintaining a balanced diet is essential for truly enjoying a healthy lifestyle!

Avoiding Trigger Foods to Improve Insomnia

Insomnia is a common issue in modern society, with millions of people in Taiwan struggling with sleepless nights. According to research by Professor Chang Chih-Jen of National Cheng Kung University's College of Medicine, the prevalence of insomnia in Taiwan reaches 28%, with the rate among young adults aged 20 to 39 nearing 30%, ranking among the highest in Asia. In addition to stress and age-related factors, consuming the wrong foods before bedtime—such as caffeine, high-sugar, high-fat, and spicy foods—can also disrupt sleep. To improve insomnia, it is essential to avoid these trigger foods and focus on consuming foods rich in tryptophan, calcium, magnesium, and B vitamins. Foods like fish, legumes, dairy products, and nuts are excellent choices, as these nutrients help stabilize emotions, relax the nerves, and enhance sleep quality.
