On September 22, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced seven new confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the seven new cases, one is domestic and the other six are imported. The CECC announced one death today.

Regarding the new domestic case (Case #16263), the case is an over 30-year-old female who came into contact with confirmed cases (Case#16146 and Case #16157). She was tested for COVID-19 on September 20, before the end of her isolation period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on September 22.

Regarding the one death (Case #16004) announced today, the case had chronic disease.
Regarding the six new imported cases, they are three men and three women, aged between under 5 to 59 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US, Cambodia, the UK (three cases), and Myanmar. They arrived between August 15 and September 20.

The CECC reported that a total of 3,191,134 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 3,173,736. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,159 cases. Of the 16,159 confirmed cases, 1,527 are imported(Case #16254, originally a domestic case, has been reclassified as an imported case from the UK after investigation); 14,578 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 841 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 841 deaths, 829 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
