Bee farming is divided between two Agriculture Production and Marketing Groups in Pingtung City and Fangshan Township, according to the Pingtung County Government. Despite the small amount of honey farmers and boxes for harvested honey, the distinctive geographic setting in Pingtung County offers Longan and Lychee honey a distinct color, taste, and natural floral aroma. They have repeatedly won Outstanding Awards and First Prizes in the National Quality Assessment of Longan Honey, establishing themselves as a prominent and trustworthy honey brand.
This year's National Quality Assessment of Longan and Lychee Honey has 250 participants. The evaluation process is lengthy and rigorous, and it is divided into preliminary and final evaluations. Longan and Lychee honey must pass both the tests for two types of 11 antibiotics and the inspection for 383 pesticide residues to advance to the final round. The final assessment will be conducted on a live streaming event by a group of twelve scholars and experts.
They will evaluate honey that has advanced to the final round based on its color, fragrance, and taste. Pingtung County honey farmers won two Outstanding Awards and two First Prizes for Longan honey this year, as well as three First Prizes for Lychee honey. In the Quality Assessment, five outstanding honey growers stood out above the other competitors, winning a total of seven honors.
