Since July 17, the voice warning feature has been formally deployed by the National Communications Commission (NCC). The voice prompt "Beware of Scams" will be heard when the public receives a call starting with "+886 9". The indoor phones of Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. are now introducing this feature, and in October it is anticipated that mobile phones and four other telecom providers will also receive this feature.

The NCC stated that it has started to ban scam calls that start with "+886" and follow "0 to 8 numbers" since May of this year. Statistics show that 70% of incoming calls from "+886 9" are regular calls, while the remaining 30% are likely fraudulent. The voice warning feature is implemented since it is hard to differentiate by the number. On July 17, this function was formally launched. If you are users of Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. landline phone, the first about 7 seconds of a call beginning with "+886 9" will be Mandarin. The voice content of the alert reads in Taiwanese, "Please note, this is an international call, beware of fraud," and the connection will be established following a "beep."

In October of this year, the voice warning feature will be extended to mobile phones and other telecom providers in addition to Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. landlines.
