Colleges and universities will begin classes in mid-September. In response to the epidemic, the Ministry of Education (MOE) released "Epidemic Prevention Guidelines for Start of Classes" to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) for approval. Schools opening must meet all 6 conditions, otherwise, schools shall adopt online teaching.

Guidelines for "Physical Classes":

  1. No more than 80 people indoors.
  2. Maintain a distance of 1.5 meters between each person.
  3. Classrooms must have arranged seats and a fixed number of people.
  4. Implement roll call for attendance check.
  5. Teachers and students must wear masks all throughout the class and prohibit eating and drinking in the classroom.
  6. Classrooms must be well ventilated and disinfected regularly.

The MOE's Department of Higher Education director Chu Chün-chang 朱俊彰 stated that all institutions must cooperate with the guidelines above. The MOE still recommends schools adopt online teaching to avoid any risks of spreading the COVID-19 virus. If schools would like to implement physical teaching, then all 6 conditions must be met.

Furthermore, director Chu stated that universities can host physical exams for incoming freshmen students but are responsible for following epidemic prevention guidelines. Schools can conduct PCR tests for the students but their refusal to take the PCR tests shall not affect their ability to be admitted to the university.
