[Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network] Every February, Baguio, located in the northern section of Luzon Island in the Philippines, holds a float parade to welcome the start of spring. NIA Chiayi City Service Center hosted a family education and legal publicity course for new immigrants. Filipino new immigrant (羅戴娜) was invited to share the multiculturalism of her home country while also assisting new immigrants in understanding the most current regulations developments.

The Philippines, according to Filipino new immigrant (羅戴娜), are hot all year round, and Baguio City, on the island of Luzon in the north, is well-known for its summer resorts due to its high altitude and cool climate; it is also known as the summer capital. Local flowers benefit from topographical features and bloom in February each year. Residents will parade while dressed in vibrant costumes, enjoy band concert to honor the city's blooms and welcome spring. The annual month-long Baguio Flower Festival (Panagbenga Festival), where "Panagbenga" means "bloom season," is held in Baguio City.

Filipino new immigrant (羅戴娜) shared her knowledge of how to make beautiful, crumpled paper wreaths with everyone as a way to celebrate the approach of spring. Use this chance to learn more about Baguio, Philippines' vibrant spring flower viewing tradition.

According to the director (黃艷薰) of NIA Chiayi City Second Service Center, the service center conducts monthly courses, covering health care, consumer protection, multiculturalism and residence laws. New immigrants are welcome to participate and exchange ideas together. At present, international flights have been gradually resumed. In order to assist the overstayers to return home as soon as possible, from February 1 to June 30 this year, National Immigration Agency has launched the "Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program." Those who self-report during the program period will be exempted entry ban and pay a minimum fine of NT$2,000, and there will be no detention. NIA appeals to overstayers to seize the opportunity and come forward to the case as soon as possible. NIA has also set up special hotline: 0800-024-881 for overstayers to inquire.
