The International Council of Museum Conference will be held in September, located in Kyoto and Taiwan is invited to participate. For the warm up, Taiwan will hold a seminar in July and August, have an exchange conversation with everyone.
This year, the 25th International Council of Museums (ICOM) general conference will be held in Kyoto, Japan. The theme is “Museums as Cultural Hubs: the Future of Tradition” and it will be held on 1-7 September 2019.
According to the statistic survey of the Chinese Association of Museums, there will be more than 50 articles and posters of Taiwan Museum that will be published on the ICOM General Conference, shows that the professional strength of the Taiwan Museum has been seen and affirmed by the international community.
To enhance the understanding of Taiwan Museum professionals on the ICOM General Conference and the host city, promote the effectiveness of international exchanges that guided by the Ministry of Culture, Chinese Association of Museums in collaboration with the National Taiwan Museum (NTM) and the Cultural Taiwan Foundation (TCTF) will jointly planned the 2019 “Kyoto Museum Education” series for the warming up of Kyoto ICOM.
The first lecture seminar was held on June 5 at the Land Bank Exhibition Hall of NTM, while the theme of the forum was “professional development of museums for the future”, invited the International Committee for Regional Museums (ICR) Council Kenji Saotome and International Committee for the Training of Personnel (ICTOP) lecture, Dr. Darko Babić, shared the plan of the Kyoto ICOM theme and the international committee talent training, attracted the museum staffs from all over the country to exchange the ideas, made the scene shortly fully seated right after the opening of the registration.
The Chinese Association of Museums reminds that the following series of the seminars are: “Reading the city: Kyoto” by Ch’ian-Lang Lee (李乾朗), “Kyoto’s historical environment and cultural assets” by Huang Shijuan (黃士娟) on July 5; then “Going to Japan to practice: the analysis of Kyoto and Osaka must visit museums”, together with “Working with the foreigners: museums and international cooperation” by Lu Zhongyan (陸仲雁) on July 26.
In addition, on August 9, the NTM and Bright Ideas Design Co., Ltd will hold the “Kyoto ICOM papers for the pre-declaration meeting and exchanges”. For more detail information, please visit the official website.
