According to The Straits Times, companies will be able to hold work-related gatherings for up to 1,000 people starting Monday (Jan 3), a significant increase from the current limit of 50.

However, unlike gatherings with fewer than 50 participants, activities with more than 50 individuals cannot include the consumption of food or beverages.

Organizers must also ensure that people are divided into zones of up to 100 persons each, with a distance of 2 meters between zones.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) announced the removal of corporate event restrictions on Saturday (Jan 1), another indicator that Singapore is adjusting to life with Covid-19.

According to them, the change will provide businesses greater freedom in planning work-related events that may require more people, such as town hall meetings or award ceremonies.

Organizers must submit an online form to the authorities in advance of such activities. Spot inspections will be undertaken, and those who break the regulations will face consequences.

Participants must also wear their masks during the event and be seated or standing in a fixed posture for the majority of the time.

They must maintain a safe distance of 1 meter from other participants, and all volunteers must be completely vaccinated, have recovered from Covid-19 within the last 180 days, or be medically ineligible for immunization.
