According to the Office of the President, President Tsai Ing-wen (台灣總統蔡英文) recently met with leaders of the “Reform for Resilience Commission's (R4R) Asia-Pacific Hub” (堅韌社會再造委員會亞太中心). In her remarks at the meeting, President Tsai highlighted the importance of promoting sustainable, balanced development and building a more robust social safety net as countries around the world continue to concurrently fight the pandemic and pursue economic recovery. The president looks forward to more international exchanges and sharing of experiences between Taiwan and other countries.

The president said that the visitors all play key roles in academia and industry in Taiwan and have long been involved in public affairs and have also used their influence to speak up for Taiwan internationally, raising our global profile. For some time now, fighting COVID-19 and epidemic prevention has been the focus of countries around the world, including Taiwan. The president expressed gratitude that everyone works hard and use Taiwan’s experience with the Asia-Pacific region as a reference for the global fight against the pandemic and strengthen Taiwan’s epidemic prevention work while also helping to promote global ties.

Taiwan has indeed faced many challenges recently, but have withstood them one by one, demonstrating the resilience of Taiwanese society. The president called Taiwan an "island of resilience" (堅韌之島) and have weathered many storms throughout many centuries. There will still be many challenges in the future, but if the people of the country work together, Taiwan can get through them all.
