As the Covid-19 epidemic slows down, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC, 中央流行疫情指揮中心) announced that from July 27, the Covid-19 nationwide epidemic alert is lowered to level two. The Chiayi City Service Station of the Southern District Affairs Brigade of the National Immigration Agency (移民署南區事務大隊嘉義市服務站) reminds migrants that they must go to the service station within 30 days from the lowering of the epidemic alert (from July 27 to August 25) to complete their residency applications. Those who are qualified to apply for extension of stay or extension of exit date, should prepare the relevant documents and bring them to the service station within 10 days from the day after the lowering of the Covid-19 alert (from July 28 to August 6).

To speed up the vaccine coverage rate, the CECC announced that migrants who do not have residence permits may also register on the publicly funded vaccination registration and reservation platform. Migrants may apply for a unified ID number online or at the counter and register on the online platform. If they have questions about vaccine registration, they may call the anti-epidemic hotline 1922 for inquiries.

Due to the epidemic situation, Mr. Ho, who lives in Chu-chi, Chiayi (嘉義竹崎), whose parents-in-law came from Vietnam last year to visit his daughter have kept postponing their return trip and are still in Taiwan until now. Mr. Ho saw the government's announcement about migrants without residence permits, that they may apply for a unified ID number and register for vaccination on the platform. That they may also go to the service station to apply for a unified ID number for his parents-in-law and wait for the next batch of appointments for registration. Mr. Ho said happily: "Thank you for this policy of the government."

Huang Yen-hsun (黃艷薰), director of the Chiayi City Service Station, also specially reminded that to simplify measures for the convenience of the people and save time in queuing, the National Immigration Agency (NIA, 移民署) has fully promoted the "Online Application System for Foreign Students" (外籍學生線上申辦系統) starting from August 1st. In the future, students’ applications for residency will no longer be accepted at the counter. There will be no need to go to the service station to apply for residency. This is to reduce the risk of infection. The relevant procedures and instructions have been posted on the application system. Please use the online application to avoid going out during the epidemic.
