2022 is the "Railway Tourism Year" and the Taiwan Railways Administration, MOTC has also transformed several old trains into sightseeing trains. The first train launched is the "Ming Ri Hao (鳴日號)", which features a brand-new Taiwan Railway aesthetic design. The 70-year-old Chu-Kuang Express E405 and E417 are selected and redesigned. The design keeps the classic orange and black colors. The body of the car looks elegant, which has received positive feedback from the public.

In this episode of the ‘New Immigrants in Taiwan’ column, several new immigrants in Taiwan from eight countries, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Poland, Russia, Australia, and Paraguay, were invited to take the "Ming Ri Hao" train, introducing the trip that everyone is looking forward to.

New immigrants first took the "Ming Ri Bus (鳴日巴士)" from Nangang to Dongshan Station in Yilan, where they greeted the "Ming Ri Hao" train. Later on, they went to the National Center of Traditional Arts in Yilan to play, donned Taiwanese opera costumes, and learned the actions of Taiwanese opera. Then prayed at the Wenchang Temple for good luck in everything.

Then arrived at Bajia Leisure Fish Farm (八甲休閒魚場) to get to know the preparing process of Ming Ri Hao bento. The bento is made with local ingredients. Ayu, one of the main side dishes of the bento, also comes from the fish farm. This makes new immigrants crave the bento.

At the end of the journey, passengers were presented with a " Ming Ri Hao Boarding Certificate" as a souvenir. In addition to the experience riding on the train, one will also get off the train to explore the local culture at various attractions, so that new immigrants from eight countries expressed their satisfaction from the trip and said they will recommend it to their foreign friends.
