The Yunlin County Service Center of the Southern District Affairs Brigade of the National Immigration Agency, in collaboration with the Library and Information Division of the Cultural and Tourism Department of Yunlin County Government, jointly organized the "Multicultural Course – Southeast Asian Language Exchange Café."his event invites community residents to experience the relaxed ambiance of a café while learning Southeast Asian languages and tasting unique Southeast Asian snacks. The venue is decorated with many traditional Southeast Asian artifacts; attendees can even try traditional Southeast Asian attire. The immersive experience allows everyone to feel like they’ve stepped into another country, engaging their senses of sight, sound, and taste while exploring Southeast Asia's diverse cultures, histories, and customs.
The New Immigrant Charity Storytelling Group Combines Hometown Delicacies and Drama to Celebrate International Migrants Day
To celebrate International Migrants Day on December 18, the "New Immigrant Charity Storytelling Group" from the New Taipei City Library, comprising 12 immigrant mothers from Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia, has combined their hometown delicacies with storytelling dramas. Through theatrical performances, they introduce Southeast Asian culinary culture to schoolchildren, broadening their international perspectives. Starting December 14, the Zhonghe Branch of the library will also host the "Culinary Without Borders" Southeast Asian cultural experience series. The activities include the following: on December 14, "Crossing Oceans – Vietnamese Pandan Cake and a Folk Love Story"; on December 18, "Vietnamese Baguette and Historical Folk Tales"; on December 20, "Indonesian Traditional Sweet Serabi Cake and Folk Stories"; and on December 21, "Traditional Thai New Year – The Story of the Songkran Festival."These events aim to provide an immersive cultural experience while fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Southeast Asian heritage.
