Late marriage and childbearing have become trends in Taiwanese society. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the average age of women having their first child is 31.43 years, with 32.44% being over 35 years old.

The Deputy Director and Chief Physician of the Reproductive Center at Zhongshan Hospital pointed out that age is a major factor affecting pregnancy rates. As women age, the quantity and quality of their eggs decline, reducing the chances of pregnancy, increasing the risk of miscarriage, and thereby raising the possibility of infertility. The main causes of infertility include ovarian factors (34.1%), multiple combined factors (32.2%), and male factors such as insufficient gonadotropins and decreased testicular function.

In women, common causes of infertility include ovarian, fallopian tube, and uterine issues. Ovarian tumors such as endometriomas and polycystic ovary syndrome are relatively common. Premature ovarian failure leads to reduced ovarian function, which affects the chances of pregnancy. The diagnosis of premature ovarian failure is often evaluated through AMH levels in the blood and antral follicle count (AFC) by ultrasound. Infertility treatments typically include natural conception, artificial insemination, and in vitro fertilization (IVF). Patients with premature ovarian failure are advised to consider egg freezing early as a precaution.

Married individuals often choose IVF to increase success rates. Ovulation stimulation through medication is a common treatment method. Additionally, PRP therapy and mesenchymal stem cell technology hold promise for enhancing ovarian function, improving egg quality and quantity, and increasing the chances of conception.
