Lunar New Year is Approaching, Cross-Strait Extra Flight Plan During Spring Festival Announced by MOTC

In response to the arrival of the Lunar New Year for this important annual festival in Taiwan and China, the departmental managers from the cross-strait aviation authorities have confirmed the plan for extra flights during the Spring Festival next year. (from January 11 to February 8)

Considering the demands of the public and airlines, there is no limit to the total number of extra flights during the Spring Festival that there are only upper limits on some busy airports in China, namely 147 fights of Shanghai Pudong Airport, 9 flights of Guangzhou Airport, 23 flights of Shenzhen Airport, and 17 flights of Hangzhou Airport will be operated. Due to no demand from airlines in Beijing, it will not be arranged. As for other airports, they have no upper limits of flights. During the above-mentioned Chinese New Year extra flights, cross-strait airlines can apply for Chinese New Year extra flights according to market demands within the upper limits.

The two sides have planned to approve applications for Chinese New Year extra flights by December 31, 2019, to facilitate passengers to book and arrange their itineraries. Flight times, take-off and landing times are also set according to the past, and applications are made under the relevant management regulations of both sides. Songshan Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport will not be open for cross-strait flights during the Spring Festival. Airlines that originally operated flights back and forth within Songshan Airport and China can arrange charter flights to take off and land at Taoyuan International Airport.
