“Send love & Care for fishermen” held by Taitung County Government and Taitung Brigade to help migrant workers stay warm in winter

The Social Affairs Department of Taitung County Government recently held “Send love in winter, Care for fishermen in Eastern Taiwan”, inviting Taitung Brigade, Coast Guard Administration (OAC), the Executive Secretary of Hsin-kang fisherman's association, and a councilman - Xu Jin Rong (許進榮).

Warm jackets and sleeping bags were presented to help them adapt to the cold weather in Taiwan during winter. It is hoped that such a heartwarming project would make them feel safe and happy while living in a foreign country.

Besides the necessities to help them stay warm, the Employment Services Act, Human Trafficking Law, and other relevant labor rights and regulations were also shared with migrant fishermen.

Huang Zhi Ming (黃志明), the commander of the Taitung County Brigade also shares the information about “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” and the issue of “Smuggled meat products from the African swine fever affected zones”. The Indonesian language assistant was also brought along to enable migrants to understand the information more easily.

The Director of the Social Affairs Department of Taitung County Government stated that  Rao Ching-ling (饒慶鈴), the Mayor of Taitung County cares about fishermen’s well-being very much. Director Chen also called on everyone from the county to show their friendliness towards migrant workers, enabling them to feel warmth when they are away from home.
